“A Haunted House” may have been childish, crass and homophobic. At least it was focused.
Eric D. Snider
I’d be tempted to say that nothing in “Scary Movie 5” is funny, but the outtakes that play over the closing credits show multiple cast members struggling to keep from laughing, so obviously I’m mistaken. Clearly the film is hilarious.
Aisle Seat
Scary Movie 5 is so bad, it makes A Haunted House look like a Seltzer/Friedberg comedy. My condolences if you understand what that means. Actually, trying to rank the badness of these spoofs is pointless.
The A.V. Club
The Scary Movie franchise, like the Seltzer-Friedberg empire of garbage it spawned, traffics in timeliness. But in this ADD-addled Internet age, it’s impossible for a studio comedy, even one as hastily and shoddily assembled as Scary Movie 5, to be...
News Blaze
What do Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Mike Tyson, Katt Williams and Snoop Dogg have in common? They're all celebrities whose names have been splashed across the tabloids in connection with controversy.

Say what you will about "Scary Movie 5"--and I promise you that there is precious little to offer in that regard--it has certainly cut down on the for delivering lame parodies of other movies. It used to be that one had to wait at least a year or so...
CinemaBlend.com
Scary Movie 5 is not completely devoid of laughs. In fact, there’s probably the same amount of chuckles to be had in this sequel than in your average marginally funny, somewhat passable comedy.
Entertainment Weekly
The latest and worst entry in the Scary Movie franchise begins with Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen in bed together. There's a joke about Lohan's driving ability. There's a joke about how much Sheen parties. Wait, you've heard those jokes before? Well...

The best part of Scary Movie 5 — not counting the part when it’s over — comes near the beginning. Snoop Dogg, one of several whatever-happened-to celebrity cameos, is walking through the forest toward The Cabin the Woods and talking about the, um...
MovieXclusive.com
One supposes that the producers of the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise must have had a creative dilemma when faced with the task of coming out with the next instalment. For one, the ‘Scream’ series which was the genesis of the ‘Scary Movies’ had long since...
Empire
Lacking a single honest laugh, this is shoddy by comparison with the other Scary Movie sequels… which throws it in a pit with Transylmania, Breaking Wind and Stan Helsing.
TotalFilm.com
Anna Faris is wisely absent from this belated fifth entry in the horror-spoofing series, a laughter vacuum whose race to parody the likes of Mama and the new Evil Dead remake didn’t stretch to writing actual jokes.
